Bridge collapse, results in death
A bridge collapsed in Peru’s Ayacucho province, claiming the lives of two teachers and seven school children. Around 53 people were reported to be injured. The reason of collapse seems to be the poor maintenance of the 100-metre long bridge. All the victims have fallen from around 80 metres height. Further to the worry of people, officials report that many of the country’s bridges are in such a state. Efforts to rescue were delayed due the poor weather conditions prevailing there. President of the government’s council of ministers has requested each government, municipality and central government to prepare detailed reports of all bridges.
